How do I see a payoff chart for options I already own?
By Faizan Ahmad. Updated .
Link your broker on Tradytics Portfolio, read only and free on every plan, then click Payoff chart on any option position: the contract opens in Payoff pinned at what it cost you, with its payoff at expiry and before it, break-evens and P&L by price and date. It works with Robinhood, Schwab, Fidelity, Interactive Brokers, Webull, tastytrade, E*TRADE, Public and every broker SnapTrade supports.
The steps
- Open Portfolio and click Connect a brokerage, or pick your broker from the list.
- Sign in to your broker in the window that opens. The link is read only: Tradytics sees positions and trades and can never place, change or move anything.
- Open the Options tab under Holdings. Every option position shows its value and P&L against what it cost or paid.
- Click Payoff chart on the position. Payoff opens over the page with the contract as its leg, long or short, as many as you hold, at your cost.
- Close it to land back on your portfolio where you were.
What the chart shows
| Part | What you read |
|---|---|
| Payoff at expiry | P&L across stock prices on the expiry date, green above zero, red below |
| Payoff before expiry | A line for the date you pick on the date ruler, so you see what time decay does between now and then |
| Break-evens | Rings where the position turns from loss to profit |
| Max profit, max loss, chance of profit | Over the chart, for the position as you hold it |
| P&L by price and date | A grid of stock prices by dates up to expiry, deeper green or red as the gain or loss grows |
Spreads, rolls and adjustments
- Spreads you hold. Each leg has its own Payoff chart button.
- A roll. Add a leg in Payoff to see what closing this contract and opening a later one would change.
- Turning it into a spread. Sell a call or put against what you own and read the new max loss and break-even.
- The other way in. Open Payoff directly: with a broker linked, Your positions on its start screen lists what you hold, and a tap loads one at what it cost.
Everything Payoff does is in how to use Payoff.
What else Portfolio shows
Every account's stocks, options, crypto and cash together, priced live, a year of trades matched into round trips and a daily P&L calendar. Plus and Pro add Factors (the market, 11 sectors and 20 styles: is the return skill or just the market?) and Versus (the book against the US market on 28 metrics). More in Tradytics Portfolio.
