The best AI tools for options traders

By Faizan Ahmad. Updated .

The most useful AI for options traders reads live market data and explains it, rather than promising predictions. Tradytics' AI analyst is an agent that pulls options flow, dark pool prints, dealer gamma and research itself and says whether a big trade looks like a hedge, a spread or a fresh bet (3 questions a day free, 20 on Live at $39 a month, unlimited on Pro at $69). Unusual Whales has its Mr. Whale analyst inside its terminal, TrendSpider's Sidekick and Trade Ideas' AI work on charts and stock scans, and MenthorQ includes its QUIN assistant in a free plan. To use ChatGPT or Claude instead, connect them to options data through an MCP server, which Tradytics Pro, Unusual Whales' API, Quant Data, BullFlow and Optionomics offer.

What good AI looks like on a real question

Asked "Where are SPY's gamma walls?" on the October 30, 2026 session, Tradytics' AI analyst pulled dealer gamma itself and answered with the put wall ($758), the call wall ($810), the gamma flip ($738.08) and total gamma (-$335.55M, negative), with a gamma-by-strike chart. Asked "What is the options flow saying on NVDA? Show me the biggest bets" on the Free plan, it built a flow card and a table of the largest trades, then flagged that the biggest print, $114M in November 20 $240 puts, was a mid-price spread and not a clean bet.

That last step is the one traders say flow tools miss. No tool can know for sure whether a trade was bought or sold, opening or closing, a hedge or a bet, but an AI that checks the side, the open interest and the other legs gets you to the likely answer. Here is what you can ask the Tradytics AI analyst.

Where each tool wins

Tradytics: an AI analyst that does the reading

The analyst decides what data it needs, pulls it (options flow, dark pool prints, dealer gamma, prices and charts, research, news, the scanner), shows its steps and answers in plain words with cards it builds. The AI desk's trade ideas are explained in plain words and tracked until they close (how the ideas work). Limits are 3, 20 or unlimited questions a day and reset at midnight New York time (AI question limits).

Unusual Whales: AI inside the biggest data terminal

Mr. Whale sits on top of real-time flow, GEX, dark pool and Congress data, with usage that scales by plan. The API, with MCP, lets your own AI tools pull the same data from $99 a month. More in Tradytics vs Unusual Whales.

TrendSpider: AI for chartists

Sidekick works inside TrendSpider's automated charting, scanning and backtesting, with an AI coding assistant too. Heavy users can buy up to 1,000 messages a month. More in Tradytics vs TrendSpider.

Trade Ideas: AI for stock scanning

Its AI Assistant turns plain English into scans, and Holly AI on Premium gives buy and sell signals with OddsMaker backtesting and auto trading. It's built for stocks, not options flow. More in Tradytics vs Trade Ideas.

MenthorQ: free AI for gamma levels

QUIN comes with the free plan, alongside a delayed preview of more than 50 models and a large academy. More in Tradytics vs MenthorQ.

TradeAlgo: AI with a human desk

TradeGPT and the Cai analyst sit beside a heavy human layer: live analyst sessions, mentorship, an options academy ($9.95 a month) and a publicly logged AI alert record. The Terminal is $2,995 a year with no monthly option, and there are no cash refunds. More in Tradytics vs TradeAlgo.

Optionomics: AI plus a public track record

A research assistant from Theta ($79), published trade ideas with a public track record, and API and MCP on Vega ($99).

Can ChatGPT or Claude read options flow?

Not on their own. A general chatbot can explain what a sweep is, but it can't see today's tape. An MCP server connects it to a data source so it can pull the numbers as tools. Your options in October 2026:

What AI can't do for options traders

It can't know a trader's other positions, so it can't prove a put was a hedge; it can only weigh the evidence, as in how to tell if a big trade is a hedge. It can't predict the market, and any AI trade idea is only as good as its full record. Look for tools that track every idea to the close: Tradytics tracks each one until it closes, Optionomics publishes a public track record, and TradeAlgo logs its alerts publicly.

Common questions

Which AI tools for options traders are free?

Tradytics Free gives 3 AI analyst questions a day on yesterday's session, MenthorQ's free plan includes QUIN, and InsiderFinance runs a free hourly AI flow analysis. TrendSpider includes 25 Sidekick messages a month, but only with a paid plan.

Can AI predict options trades?

No. AI can read flow, gamma and dark pool data faster than you and explain what a trade likely is. It can't tell you what the market does next.

What is an MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard way for AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT to call outside tools and data. A trading data MCP server lets the assistant fetch live flow or prices instead of guessing.
