The best dark pool data tools
By Faizan Ahmad. Updated .
Most dark pool tools start from the same off-exchange trade reports to FINRA, so the real differences are price, what each builds on top (levels, alerts, context) and how it handles prints that are reported late. Unusual Whales ($50 a month), InsiderFinance ($75), BlackBoxStocks (from $79), Cheddar Flow Professional ($99) and BullFlow Premium ($59 a month billed yearly) say their prints are real time. Tradytics shows prints within about 15 minutes of their report, with venue, sale condition and 10-session dark pool levels, for $39 a month, and shows yesterday's session free. Prices checked October 31, 2026.

Does real-time dark pool data matter?
Less than it sounds. Dark pool prints are after-the-fact reports by nature. Off-exchange trades are reported to FINRA after they execute, and the biggest ones (negotiated blocks, average-price and portfolio trades) are often reported late, sometimes hours later, at a price from earlier in the day, flagged with late or out-of-sequence condition codes. FINRA's rule is a report within 10 seconds of execution; anything later is marked late. Tradytics shows prints within about 15 minutes of their report. Dark pool data is read for levels (where size accumulated over days), not for the second a print happened, so a 15-minute window changes nothing about the levels, which are built from 10 sessions of prints.
On October 30, 2026, SPY's biggest print came in at 4:28 PM ET at $769.559, the prior day's close, a late, previously agreed trade; what mattered was where it sat, on SPY's biggest 10-session level of $769.48 ($20.78B in 155 prints). More in is dark pool data real time?

Why do some tools show prints 15 minutes later?
Mostly cost, not regulation. Under the consolidated tape's delayed-data policy for NYSE and other exchange-listed stocks, data delayed 15 minutes after the markets first make it available counts as delayed data, and display fees per user don't apply to it. So a 15-minute window is a licensing and pricing choice for a data vendor, not a rule about dark pools. TradeAlgo describes its own dark pool feed as delayed and inferred, Tradytics shows prints within about 15 minutes, and five tools above say theirs are real time.
Where each tool wins
Unusual Whales: dark pools inside the biggest terminal
Dark pool flow sits beside real-time options flow, GEX, Congress trades and prediction markets, with a daily dark pool data download on paid plans and an API with MCP if you want the prints in your own code. Retail Basic is $50 a month. More in Tradytics vs Unusual Whales.
Tradytics: levels and context at the lowest price
About 12,000 prints a session, every off-exchange print plus large exchange blocks, each labeled by venue and sale condition so late and average-price prints stand out. Each stock's dark pool page shows prints today, 10-session levels, dollars traded today against a usual day, buyers and sellers, and the tape. Live is $39 a month with live options flow included, and Free shows all of it for yesterday's session. The AI analyst can pull dark pool prints into its answers.
Cheddar Flow: dark pools, GEX and flow in one Pro plan
Professional bundles dark pool prints it calls real time, GEX levels and AI power alerts with its focused flow feed, at $75 a month billed yearly. Its "signature prints" arrive 24 hours later. More in Tradytics vs Cheddar Flow.
InsiderFinance: everything in one plan
Dark pool and equity prints come with flow, gamma exposure, scanners and courses in a single plan, $55 a month billed yearly. More in Tradytics vs InsiderFinance.
BlackBoxStocks: dark pools with stock scanners and live rooms
Real-time and historical prints from Options Plus ($79), next to algorithmic stock scanners and daily live trading rooms. More in Tradytics vs BlackBoxStocks.
BullFlow: custom dark pool alerts
Premium adds real-time and historical dark pool trades with custom dark pool alerts, and the Data API plan puts them behind an API with MCP. More in Tradytics vs BullFlow.
Quant Data: dark pool levels beside dealer exposure
Dark pool levels, prints and notable flow next to its gamma, delta, vanna and charm exposure tools, in one $74.99 plan. More in Tradytics vs Quant Data.
What to look for in a dark pool tool
- Venue on every print. On October 30, 2026, NVDA's biggest print was 30,459,238 shares at $204.64, worth $6.23B, at 4:00 PM on Nasdaq: an exchange print at the close, not a dark pool trade. A tool should label it, and keep it out of dark pool levels, so you don't read it as a hidden buyer. More in block trades vs dark pool prints.
- Sale conditions. Late, average-price and out-of-sequence flags tell you a print's price may be from hours earlier.
- Levels over several sessions. One print is noise; $20.78B at one SPY price over 10 sessions is a level. Here is what dark pool levels are.
- Size against a usual day. On a usual day SPY trades $6.37B in dark pool and block prints, so a single $2.84B print is big but not the whole story.
Common questions
Are dark pool prints bullish or bearish?
Neither by themselves. A print shows a price and a size, not who started the trade, so read it against levels and the options flow. More in are dark pool prints bullish or bearish?
What is the cheapest dark pool data?
Free: Tradytics Free (yesterday's session) and FINRA's weekly volume by venue, two to four weeks behind. Paid: Tradytics Live at $39 a month or $299 a year, which also includes live options flow. See free options flow and dark pool data.
Which tools say their dark pool data is real time?
Unusual Whales, Cheddar Flow, BlackBoxStocks, InsiderFinance and BullFlow. Quant Data and Optionomics don't state timing, and TradeAlgo calls its feed delayed and inferred.
Can a dark pool tool tell me which dark pool traded?
Not on the day. Real-time trade reports don't name the venue; FINRA publishes volume by trading venue weekly, two to four weeks later.
